Driver Cited After Allegedly Causing School Bus Crash in North Carolina

In April of 2025, authorities in Caldwell County reported that they had cited a driver for speeding. This driver was behind the wheel of a school bus when it veered off the road and crashed into a group of trees. The accident injured one student, and the other six children on board escaped unscathed. Investigators determined that the bus driver had been operating the vehicle at an unsafe speed, and he was issued a ticket. This highlights a growing concern about unqualified and reckless school bus drivers across the nation.

Speeding Driver Runs Red Light Before Causing Fatal Crash

Also in April, authorities in Raleigh reported that a speeding driver was responsible for a deadly crash that claimed the life of a motorist. Police say that the man ran a red light before smashing into the side of the victim’s vehicle. The victim was waiting to make a left turn in the middle of the intersection, and she died in the collision. The crash also claimed the life of the speeding driver, which means no charges were filed in connection with this incident.

Man Faces Speeding Citation and Other Charges for Deadly Crash

Around the same time, authorities in Wilmington reported that a man had been charged with DWI and speeding in connection with a deadly crash. They say that this individual was intoxicated when he tried to pass another vehicle on NC 140. This maneuver caused him to collide head-on with another vehicle, and the occupant of this vehicle died as a result. Finally, the man was found with heroin when he was searched by responding officers.

The defendant now faces charges of felony death by vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, DWI, reckless driving, unsafe passing, and speeding.
